Father's Day comes early with Virtual Screening of Boys of Summer

Fathers, sons, baseball, improv and the journey to heal through imrpov, exercise and laughter

June 18, 2020

Treat Dad to a screening of a special award winning movie, from home, this Friday, June 19, 2020.

Robert’s father, Dan, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2001. They road-tripped 20,000 miles in two months to see a game at each of the 30 MLB stadiums in 2004. The award-winning documentary Boys of Summer was made from that journey – as they hoped for a cure. Ten years later, with no cure in sight, they made the sequel, Second Base, shifting their focus to quality of life. Now, in the third film in the series, Short Stop, they’re engaging the PD community across the country and exploring the value of laughter and exercise.

The screening is free to attend - but you must register by emailing Robert at bosdocumentary@gmail.com. More information on the film can be found at www.bosmovie.com

In addition to their work with these films, Robert leads an online group, Improv to Improve Parkinson’s disease. Susan is a participant and is helping Robert identify elements of the program to be tested in his upcoming clinical trials. The work is part of his PhD studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. People with Parkinson’s, their care partners and wellness and medical providers are welcome to attend. Free classes will continue through July 20, 2020. Register at www.i2ipd.com
