24th Annual Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival Returns

Calling all wenches, jesters, knights and kings! Clark County Parks and Recreation presents the 24thAnnual Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival as it returns toSunset Park (2601 E. Sunset Rd. Las Vegas) Oct. 13-15.  Traveling back through centuries when knights and fair maidens, minstrels and the Royal Court ruled the world, the festivities begin on Friday, Oct. 13 and feature a variety of shows each day, more than 100 artisans, historical reenactments and plenty of food and drink to satisfy the masses.

The festival is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $13 per day advance for adults and $8 per day advance for seniors ages 60 and older as well as children age six to 12. Ages five and younger are free. Three-day passes can be purchased for $30 for adults and $20 for childrenages six to 12 and seniors ages 60 and older. Combo packs including three- day admission, an event T-shirt and an 18x24 commemorative poster are also available. Three-day passes are available through Ticketfly and must be redeemed at the event box office the first day of the festival. Advance tickets are available through Ticketfly; event box offices will be open at the festival 9 a.m. daily during fair. Ticketfly fees may apply. Day of show prices increase on site when gates open to $15 adults and $10 for seniors and children for a single day pass.

Ye Royal Couples can rejoice and wed in Renaissance tradition with the Medieval Joyous Union and Merrymaking wedding packages.  Whether private or including friends, couples can embrace their love with a ceremony fit for a king and queen.  Wedding packages include festivities and merriment for 4 – 48 guests and can by booked online at www.lvrenfair.com/wedding. Fair-goers who wish to camp like royalty can also opt to go all out with the Preferred Plus Yurt Camping Package for $799 which includes a 14 x 14 pre-assembled yurt, 20 x 20 preferred plus camping space, early arrival pass to pick out camping spot, overnight camping Friday – Sunday, parking spot, four three-day fair passes, four festival t-shirts, and four festival posters.  Additional camping packages and amenity upgrades are also available.  Camping can be booked online atwww.lvrenfair.com/camping.

Guests looking to feast will be delighted in the variety of food and drink offerings including a whole English feasts, meat pies, bangers & mash, beers, ales and more. Alcohol sales begin at 1 p.m. on Friday and sales will cease at 9 p.m. both Friday and Saturday evening and4 p.m. on Sunday. All alcohol sales are ages 21+ with proper identification.

Along with the traditional musical performances from Tempest, Bogtrotter’s Union, Killian’s Angels and the return of the dinner theater, this year’s event will feature several smaller stages throughout the lands featuring entertainment by Mullaney, Nature of Mercy, Whiskey Bards, and costumed performers such as the Bawdy Juggler Adam Reid, Endless Productions, and the Sisters of Cybele. The festival presents various shows per day along with historical re-enactments, jousting tournaments, medieval pageantry and more than 100 artisans – including blacksmiths, stained glass designers, jewelers, wood workers, toy makers, perfume blenders, stone carvers and sword, dagger and armor craftsman – to demonstrate and sell their wares.

Experience full-contact jousting tournaments, live combat battles, no-holds-barred gladiator battles, black powder demonstrations, strolling minstrels, contortionists, magicians, storytellers, jokers, jugglers, flame eaters, belly dancers, trained parrots and pirates. Additional attractions include bow and arrow and axe target games, medieval barber and surgeon demonstrations, Princess Tea Party and storytelling, Scavenger Hunt, and Renaissance guilds.

Limited parking is available for free at Sunset Park.  Overflow parking (with free shuttle service) will be made available at two locations: Cannon Junior High (5850 Euclid Street) all three days Friday, Oct. 13 5 p.m. - 11 p.m.,Saturday, Oct. 14 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Del Sol High School (3100 E. Patrick Lane) beginning Saturday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.; and Sunday Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. (as needed). Free shuttle service is available to and from the festival grounds approximately every 15 minutes. Guests should refrain from parking at area businesses as they will tow unauthorized vehicles.

Patrons may bring one sealed bottle of water, sunscreen, blankets and still camera. No unauthorized vending, concessions, merchandise, literature or promotions allowed. Any participants in costume must have all related props or weapons peace tied, or those items will be denied at time of entry. No carry-in food or beverages, pets, lawn chairs or weapons (with or without permit) are allowed inside the festival area.  No re-entry is allowed. ATMs will be on site and located by the each entrance gate, next to the main food court and in the vendor village.
