Happy Holidays

By Natalia Castro, MK Summerlin- NW Las Vegas Publisher December 16, 2014
One of the things I LOVE about Macaroni Kid is finding the activities and events. The more options and diversity the better.  I think each event that a child experiences adds a little something to their knowledge base and creates a special family memory. Even before kids are old enough to remember they are building up their "file folders" of information. These experiences shape how they look at the world, which is a powerful thing to think about as a parent or caregiver.
In our house we are preparing for the holidays with a Christmas tree, Christopher Pop-In-Kins, holiday movies, and the meaning of Christmas. We also talk about other holidays that fall this time of year, Hanukkah began yesterday (there will be a Menorah lighting at Downtown Summerlin tonight), and Kwanzaa will be celebrated after Christmas. We read books (from the library and I found the display pictured at Barnes & Noble) and talk to friends about their traditions. Having the opportunity to experience different cultures and celebrations gives my kids the opportunity to ask questions and understand various traditions.
What are you celebrating this season and how do you pass down your traditions?

Happy Holidays!
