By Blue Man Group April 27, 2016

Blue Man Group at Luxor Hotel and Casino continues their partnership with Grant a Gift Autism Foundation for the second consecutive year by hosting a sensory-friendly show, suitable for children with autism spectrum disorders on Sunday, June 12 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $36 with net proceeds from the event going directly to the nonprofit.

“Continuing our partnership with Blue Man Group is such a blessing, “ said Lynda Tache, founder and executive director of Grant a Gift Autism Foundation. “The energy throughout last year’s performance was absolutely incredible and I can only image what this year’s show will bring.”

Slight modifications will be made to the show including reducing sound and light levels at various moments during the performance and making earplugs available upon request. The Blue Men will limit the amount of direct audience interaction and keep their approach to the audience more subdued. Blue Man Group will also create calming environments in the theater’s lobby for families seeking a break from the excitement.

“We are extremely excited to continue our partnership with Grant a Gift Autism Foundation and create a version of our show that is more accessible for families affected by autism,” said Jack Kenn, Blue Man Group Las Vegas vice president, senior resident general manager. “We are also incredibly grateful to Luxor Hotel and Casino for being so supportive of this initiative.”

Last year, 858 guests enjoyed an entertaining performance with complimentary popcorn, sunglasses and glow-in-the-dark necklaces. Blue Man Group gifted more than $11,000 through ticket and sponsorship revenue. For individuals who wished to take a break from the excitement, quiet zones were placed throughout the theater lobby outfitted with bean bags, coloring pages and crayons. Families were treated to a meet-and-greet with the Blue Men and band members following the lively show.

The partnership is part of Blue Man Group’s efforts to support autism programs in all of its markets including Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, New York City and Orlando, with a minimum donation of $25,000 given to the cause for the second year.

The fastest growing developmental disorder in the U.S., autism affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys. Characteristics include social challenges, communication difficulties and repetitive behaviors. As a non-verbal, visually-stunning show, Blue Man Group serves as a great fit for all children and families.

Blue Man Group will also perform at the end of the opening ceremonies during the Grant a Gift Autism Foundation’s 5K Race for Hope & Fun Walk at Town Square Las Vegas on Saturday, April 30. The bald and blue trio will bring a stellar performance for all participants to enjoy.
