Art Classes For Kids

Enjoy making art through single day, camp or private parties

By Kim Bavington October 2, 2015
For over 2 decades, Kim Bavington and her dynamic ART CLASSES FOR KIDS staff have brought the fine arts of Drawing, Painting and Sculpting for kids ages 3-15 to our community through their Group Art Classes, Private Lessons, Art Parties and Art Camps.
ART CLASSES FOR KIDS progressive programs have inspired thousands of kids and now are even nurturing the creative talents of their children.  Their passion for fostering creativity in all types of kids is what keeps their staff excited.  Their continuing to keep learning about art, keeps them fresh, and their skills combined with enthusiasm, is what inspired young artists to want to keep learning about art.  With their creative methods and determination to teach about what is current in art, they hope to plant a seed keeping future generations thinking creatively.
Twenty-five years ago, Kim taught a few of her friend's daughters drawing lessons in their home after their mother noticed that they rarely brought any art made at school home and weren't learning art skills, specifically drawing.  Within months several kids in the neighborhood joined her friend's daughters and that was the beginning of Art Classes for Kids.  Within a year, she was teaching over 30 kids in our community Private Art Lessons in their homes and began her first week long summer art camp.  From there, weekly group art classes began and the next summer, the first week long art camps began.

Currently, kids can join a weekly group art class on Mondays in Summerlin, 4-5:30pm or Tuesdays Downtown from 4-5:30pm.  There is also a Saturday 10am-12noon class that meets one Saturday per month Downtown.  In each of these progressive group classes for kids ages 5-12 years of age, kids learn about a famous artist or art movement in history to create a work of art while  building the skills in a specific medium.
In our Art Parties, our dynamic art instructors come to your party for an hour and a half of creative fun!  The birthday host can choose from a variety of projects to make at their party from painting on canvas to building with clay or drawing with chalk pastels.  They have a load of ideas for you and your guests to choose from that they've been tested to be fun and easy to follow while giving you the option to personalize it with your creativity.  They can also create a project that is customized to fit the specific theme of your party.

The busiest time of our year would be Art Camp season.  We hold these half day Monday thru Friday Camps in June and July and during holiday breaks.  The weeklong experience in which students complete approx. 10 projects, concludes with an art show of student's work.
Aside from making great projects that build skill and confidence, Art Classes for kids takes a lot of pride in inspiring students to use their creative minds. They teach how thinking out of the box leads to discovery, invention and individuality, and how to appreciate the design and beauty in all that we experience in life.

They continue to teach private (one on one) lessons to kids ages 4-15 years of age either at their downtown studio or in their student's home. In these lessons a curriculum is designed to keep the student's skills progressing while focusing on their specific interests and goals.
Many of the company's past students are enjoying their passions for art in careers such as graphic design, photography, fashion design, architecture and film.  They've written to tell us that our classes were their first introduction to a creative career getting to do what they love, with some already sending their kids to our current classes.
