Hopping on the Tech 4 Tots' Puterbug Bus

A Preschooler's Review on Technology Learning

By Natalia Castro, MK Summerlin- NW Las Vegas Publisher July 2, 2015
Last week I shared that Tech 4 Tots was hosting free workshops and I decided to take my 3 year old to check out the class. He was excited to go to a "computer class" for his age. The class size is small, with a 4 to 1 ratio, which allows for each student to have ample attention but also work independently. Ms. Des begins with a short story introducing the students to the program, Discovery Kid's Puterbugs, letting them know they will be a detective to help solve the mystery on the farm. Each child is provided with their own laptop to work on, which is super thrilling as a preschooler.

The students each sat at their laptop and Ms. Des showed them how to get started. We, the parents, were told to be as hands off as possible to allow the kids to be as hands on and independent as they could. The program covered various academic ideas; everything from letter recognition to simple math concepts. All while teaching the kids how to find letters on the Home Row, send an email and save a file! My son was engaged all the way through, each segment is age appropriate and moves according to the child's ability.

He left the class feeling accomplished and confident. I was impressed with the program and how quickly he adapted and learned to navigate through each stage while learning new concepts. This class was a true example of having fun while learning.

Tech 4 Tots is offering mini sessions beginning July 8th and lasting 4 weeks. Use the code MKSummer for an exclusive Macaroni Kid discount.
